"Tommie Turtle's Secret" was one of a set of poems awarded "Best Submission for Children's Writing" at the 2005 Florida Christian Writer's Conference
"I believe that "Tommie Turtle" will take your children into a wonderful new world of freedom to be who God wants them to be and has created them to be, and that Rhyme Time Bob has the gift of words that will serve as the vehicle to carry them there." -Ruthi Rolseth-
A book report of“Tommie Turtle’s Secret”By: Collin
The main characters are: Tommie Turtle and Hoppy Bunny. The story is about how Hoppy Bunny and Tommie Turtle became friends. First, Hoppy Bunny stopped by to tease Tommie Turtle. Hoppy Bunny asked Tommie Turtle to race him. Tommie Turtle said “That was a mean thing to say but if you want to race me I will race you.” They had the race but Tommie Turtle swam across the lake instead of going around the lake. Hoppy Bunny got to the other side of the lake and saw Tommy Turtle already there. Tommie Turtle said he would not tell the others how he won if Hoppy Bunny would be nice to others. I think this is a good book for little kids because it teaches them how to be nice, and how to treat others the way they want to be treated. I think this is an important lesson because not every kid has learned manners and discipline. After they read this book they will know about manners and discipline. If you read this book I know you will want to share it with someone you care about. Collin is 10 ½ years old.
Hello Folks! I recently met Robert Hicks and his wife, Betty. 'Mr. Bob,' as he is known, retired after teaching 24 years at the University of Hawaii. His book, "Tommy Turtles Secret", is a delightful book with an unusual twist. As I read it to my Students, I heard them say they knew how the book turned out. The surprise ending 'got 'em.' My granddaughter read the book to me; she just completed kindergarten. I sent a copy of Tommy to - Somerset, New Jersey and Fresno, California. EVERYONE loved the book. They thought it neat that it was autographed by the author. I need more books! After sending books or giving them in person, I do not have a book and need to give to several others. Have a great day!
